Submitting to Search Engines…Worth The Time?

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

I was reading about this and I thought, “Hey I have a new site and it could use traffic, you can never have too much traffic”. So, I decided to try out a few of the, “submit to 40 search engines for free” programs that many websites offer to try and have your sites indexed.

Here is what I ended up with a few weeks after I submitted my website to about 4 or 5 of these search engines submission services.

1. I got attacked with about 50 emails telling me to confirm my address and name. Why they need to know that I will never understand.

2. No indexes by most of those search engines.

3. If I was indexed, they added no value to my site because the link is worthless when crawled.

4. No traffic increase to my website.

Either the free versions are useless or the entire premise of search engine submissions is, the choice is yours.

Forum Posting, A Free link Building Opportunity

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

People go to forums because they want to share there interest or passion for the same topic, and share there ideas, tips, strategies, experiences and more with other members of the forum. The reason why forums are made is because the owner wants to get some free content built by the visitors in some cases. In other cases, forums are built as a way to interact with the customers or visitors. There are many reasons why forums are created
Posting on forums is a great way to advertise your site and build 1 way links to your site. Don’t think that I am talking about going to a forum and telling people to come to your site. Many people do this and this is called spam. When people outwardly go to a forum, post one time and include a link to there site in the post. Some others, called ghosts, will join a forum just for the link in there profile. This is one of the most useless things in the world because they can’t even be seen.
To begin, go to Google and type in you niche followed by forum to find a forum about your topic. You must do a little bit of research before you begin by looking through the rules and seeing if the forum is worth posting to. This is where they will tell you the rules about certain things called the signature file which is the most important part of the strategy. Forums have started to get rid of signature files in some forums so be careful. On the bottom of the post, you will see that many people have a line and then more writing that is the same in all there posts, this is the signature file. Go to the control panel in your forum and see if you can create one. If you can’t find it, ask the admin or a moderator. Make sure that you write a link to your site in there and make the anchor text the key phrase you are trying to market.
By any means, do not advertise you site, just make sure that you contribute quality to the discussions. Your signature file will be doing the job of advertising. People will see your link and they will go through to the other side because of what you are contributing. If you look through some very busy forums, you will find that there are some people who will have tens of thousands of posts which are all linking to there site.

Make 5 or more posts a day and keep doing so for at least 6 months with a new website. Sure it is a lot of work, but you will see that you will get massive amounts of links and traffic from your posts. Let’s do the math: 5 posts X 180 days= 900 links back to your site. 900 opportunities to get traffic to go to your site.

A New Way Of Creating Long Lasting Links

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

I know of all of the ways that you can create links to your site. These stratgies have to be used all the time continualy creating more and more links to your site so that you can create a large amount of both reciprical and 1 way links to your site will naturally earn you a high place in any search engines.

So you have been doing all of those strategies to get your site a few decent links but they are all reciprical. This is not good and search engines will punish a site for this. Well, you can use article submiting, but this takes such a long time. You have to write an article, you have to submi the article. You may even want to use a service like Isnare or software like article post robot to get those articles out to more distributors faster. This will cost you a lot of money and figuring out how to use some things will cost you a lot of time.

There is also paying for links but I think that this is just a bad idea.  This will cost you a lot of money and it will not last. When your month is up and you have to pay another $50 you will not want pay it, especially if your site is not making any money. If you are creating a large content rich site and you are trying to make money from adsense and afiliate products, you will not be making any kind of real income until you have enough time pass in which you can create a loyal traffic base that will want to click on your ads and buy your products.

Here is my strategy that you can try. This one is on the house for my loyal readers. (just a little thank you for staying with me. )  Lets go back to article distribution. What is the ultimate goal of this? you want webmasters to take your articles and add them to there sites, right? Well, somethimes this can take months or even years to become effective enough to change any kind of traffic or search engine statisitics.

My plan is to go directly to the webmasters with well established or new sites and offer them an article or 2 in exchange for a link. You can offer a few articles to a high pr site in exchange for just 1 link. If a site has very high pr and high traffic you could offer them many articles and a reciprical link wich in this case would actually be very good (pr 0 with pr 5 is not too bad ) Sure page rank does nothing, but It does mean something to me and it is a symbol of a good site. At any rate, the basis in which you choose who to write for can be based on anything.

So, please take this strategy and try it out, let me know how it goes!
